Kanaka Simhasanam movie tells Kanamkambaran (Jayaram)  who runs a drama troupe along with his wife Bharati (Karthika). The company is running at loss but the couple struggle to keep it going as their creditors are breathing down their throats.One day, they strike gold when Udaya Varma (Janardhanan) and Ramakrishnan (Bheemnan Raghu) asks them to enact a real life drama. They want him to play Suryanarayanan the heir to the throne of the palace and childhood sweetheart of Seetalakshmi (Lakshmi Gopalaswamy) the princess.Kanakambaran takes up the challenge and also places his wife as the cook at the royal palace. Meanwhile a bad guy (Kiran Raj) who has an eye for Seetalakshmi lands up and how Kanakambaran sorts out all problems forms the rest of this predictable story.
