Badla is a Bollywood action drama, helmed by Sujoy Ghosh. The movie stars Amitabh Bachchan and Taapsee Pannu in the lead roles. Reportedly, Taapsee has taken inspiration from Hollywood actress Kerry Washington for Badla. The actress had earlier said, “It’s a character I have never done before so wanted to have an interesting look put together. She is a sharp and intimidating woman who dresses up in an extremely prim n proper way. Kerry Washington’s look was a perfect reference point for us and if I can achieve something even close to hers I think we will be good.”Naina Sethi (Taapsee Pannu), a svelte businesswoman is accused of murdering her lover Arjun (Tony Luke) with whom she was allegedly having an extramarital affair. As the fear of her family life and successful business empire crumbling down seeps in, she gets her lawyer Jimmy (Manav Kaul) to hire a senior attorney Badal Gupta (Amitabh Bachchan) to defend her case. Badal soon lands up at Naina’s house to interrogate her. With just three hours in hand before an ‘unidentified’ witness testifies against Naina, the two race against the time with Naina narrating the events that led up to the crime and Badal looking beyond facts to devise a theory which proves her innocence.Directed by Sujoy Ghosh, Badla is presented by Red Chillies Entertainment in association with Azure Entertainment, produced by Gauri Khan, Sunir Kheterpal and Akshai Puri.
